About Purple Ribbon

Each year, over 15 lakh people in India receive a cancer diagnosis, with nearly 70% originating from tier 3 and 4 towns. However, as Cancer care facilities primarily exist in metropolitan areas, patients often endure lengthy travels for treatment, spanning hundreds of kilometres.

In response to this disparity, Purple Ribbon aims to democratise Cancer care and make it more affordable by establishing chemo daycare centres in partnership with local nursing homes and hospitals across tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 cities in India. It also provides access to a network of expert oncologists for second opinions, and to a multidisciplinary team of physicians, caregivers, and nurses to enhance the quality of life through palliative care.

This initiative not only improves patient retention for distant oncologists but also ensures continuity of care. Purple Ribbon envisions setting up 500 chemo daycare centres by 2028, thereby bringing Cancer care closer to patients, regardless of their location.

Purple Ribbon at MIF’s Scale-Up

At its no-equity accelerator, MIF supported Purple Ribbon in crafting a robust Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy, and a targeted B2B marketing and lead generation strategy—crucial for fundraising endeavours and building a sustainable business model. Leveraging MIF’s guidance on GTM strategy and financial modelling, Purple Ribbon developed a clear growth roadmap, including next steps of enhancing its supply of Cancer care daycare centres, stimulating demand within existing hospital networks, and identifying key hires essential for business execution.

Since MIF’s Scale-Up Program has now narrowed down its focus to innovations in Agriculture, Plastic Waste Management, and Clean Technology, Purple Ribbon graduated from Scale-Up in 2023. During its time at our no-equity accelerator, Purple Ribbon was mentored by a host of experts, including former Group Product Head at Marico, Vibhu Gangal.
